I captured sunset complete with surfer from Santa Cruz in the fore on Harris Beach, Harris Beach State Park, Southern Oregon.
Harris Beach State Park is located on Oregon’s rugged and picturesque south coast. Harris Beach offers an incredibly beautiful seascape for photographers and sightseers. Several trails offer not only moderate exercise but off the beaten path vistas to vantage points revealing surreal seascapes. Miles of sandy beaches and rocky outcroppings are available to explore and photograph. From the day-use area , one can enjoy beachside picnicking while enjoying a picturesque view of the sea stacks dotting the ocean, including the largest island off the Oregon coast, Bird Island (also called Goat Island). This island is a National Wildlife Sanctuary and breeding site for rare birds such as the tufted puffin. The island provides amazing wildlife viewing from the park's many viewpoints. One can also watch gray whales during their winter and spring migrations as well as harbor seals, California sea lions, sea birds and tidepools prevalent in the many sealife rich marine gardens.
